Andreas Zenke was born in Calw and studied bassoon at the Musikhochschule in Karlsruhe with Prof. Günter Pfitzenmaier and at the Musikhochschule München with Prof. Eberhard Marschall. He completed his postgraduate studies at the Musikhochschule Hamburg with Prof. Frank Dietzelt and Prof. Hans-Martin Grau. As part of his Konzertexam (Masters) he performed as a soloist with the Hamburger Sinfonikern. From 1994-1995 he was the Principal Bassoonist of the Esbjerg Ensemble Denmark. In 1995 he moved to the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, which he left in 2004. While studying, Andreas Zenke was a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation and as a member of the Münchner Bläserquintett (Munich Wind Quintet) received various prizes in many competitions including being a finalist in the ARD Competition Munich.
